Commercializing the Forgotten Wavelengths , Soft X-ray Technologies and their Applications
CEO, MIchael Inskip and CTO, Robert Dotten will be giving a public science talk at the Nepean Sailing Club on Feb. 8th at 7pm.
Abstract: All but one region of the light spectrum has been commercialized with numerous technologies, products and suppliers in the market. The Soft X-ray region between Ultraviolet and Traditional X-rays are the forgotten wavelength range. While plenty of Research and Development projects are completed at Synchrotrons around the globe, the lack of available Soft X-ray light sources for commercial use have hindered commercial opportunities and technology development in this wavelength range. Ottawa based ALFT Inc., has patented, commercialized and begun having its portable Soft X-ray light sources used in the field. This presentation will explain the Company’s twenty year technology development history, its future direction and how Soft X-ray sources will facilitate and enable advancements in the research and development of new applications spanning a broad range of industries; including aerospace and defence, security, environmental analysis, diagnostic and medical imaging, biotechnology, nanotechnology, microelectronics, micro-fabrication, genomics, proteomics, and environmental and life sciences.
